Michael Phillips was named Warden at Dawson State Jail in 2012. He had been Warden of the Mineral Wells Pre-Parole Transfer Facility since August 1998. Phillips joined CCA in 1990 as Chief of Security at Winn Correctional Center in Winnfield, La. From there, he was promoted to Assistant Warden and in 1996 became Warden. Phillips began his corrections career in 1980 as a Correctional Officer at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice's Ellis Unit. He attended the University of Houston in Houston, Texas.
