Outstanding Performance
With nearly three decades of successful partnership with all three federal agencies, nearly half of all states and dozens of host communities around the country, our performance record speaks for itself. For example, CCA's escape rate is consistently comparable or better than that of the public sector with 0.81 escapes per 10,000 inmates in 2006, and a three-year average of 1.16 escapes per 10,000 inmates*. The most recent public data available shows an average three-year escape rate of 5.51 escapes per 10,000 inmates.

Three Decades of Proven Experience
As the founder of the private corrections industry with approximately 64 facilities under management, CCA has built and operated more correctional facilities than any other corrections system. CCA built the first-ever private correctional facility in Houston, Texas in 1984 for the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Still operated and managed by CCA today, the facility took just six months to build. Since then, CCA has completed 35 new construction projects and 42 major facility expansions, all of which increased bed capacity for a premium value and were completed in a record time that averages half as long as the public sector. Additionally, CCA employees experience career advancement opportunities that parallel the respected growth of the company; the company’s commitment to ongoing development and promoting from within retains those who work their way up through the ranks, as well as correctional veterans who join CCA after years of service in the public sector.

No two correctional systems are alike. Each has its own policies and procedures, expectations and challenges. A flexible partner, CCA is well prepared to meet customer expectations and special needs. CCA’s many locations, more than 90,000 beds, and variety of services enable partners to customize contracts to meet specific population challenges, programmatic offerings and fluctuating bed needs.

Reduced Costs
CCA’s operating costs are, on average, 20% lower than states in which we operate.
Capital Expenditure Avoidance: An alternative funding source, CCA can build prisons – typically costing $50 million or more – without partners assuming corrections-related debt, which frees agencies to fund new schools, hospitals and other taxpayer priorities.
Economic Development and Community Involvement
As a good corporate citizen and community partner, communities in which CCA facilities are located realize many benefits, including new, career-driven employment opportunities, increased demand for local goods and services, and additional tax revenue. Additionally, CCA encourages employees to be active in their community. Each CCA facility has a Community Relations Committee comprised of community representatives, typically elected officials, civic and business leaders, members of the media and residents living near the facility. This committee promotes good stewardship through various volunteer projects, awareness initiatives and fundraising projects.
